Main aspects prior to buy a screen
In Tecnoled HK we take care of advising our customers in the installation of LED screens. Before starting to develop any project, we must ask ourselves some questions:
- Location of the LED screen: depending on the location it can be: LED screen for indoor, LED screen for showcase or LED screen for outdoor.
- The size of your LED screen: depending on the space where you want to install it.
- The viewing distance: You need to prioritize the target audience that will see the LED screen from the shortest and farthest distance.
- Objective: Depending on the use of your screen, it can be an advertising LED screen, an informative LED display or an LED display for events and scenarios.
FAQs
- How to choose the pixel pitch of your screens?
- It will depend on three factors: the viewing distance, the image resolution needed and the size of the LED screen. You will have to play with these three values to get an LED screen that suits your project. The best viewing distance of a pixel is the distance at which your eyes will no longer be able to see the spaces between pixels if you move farther away.
- What is pixel pitch?
- The pixel pitch of an LED display is the distance measured in millimeters from pixel to pixel. is an important value because it is equivalent to the viewing distance of an LED screen. The larger the pixel pitch, the greater the separation between pixels. While a smaller pixel pitch will give a smaller separation between pixels. Consequently, a higher pixel pitch will give us a greater separation between pixels, ideal for watching distant content, while a lower pixel pitch will give us a better resolution when watching content at close range.
- What is the IP protection rating?
- IP or ingress protection. It is an international standard used to determine whether LED displays or other products can be installed in certain environments. In Tecnoled HK, we can find two degrees of IP protection IP20: Ideal for indoor LED screens because it does not have protection against rain, but against dust. IP65: Ideal for outdoor LED screens, because they are water resistant.
Differences between inside and outside
Indoor and outdoor LED screens are different in many ways, but they differ mainly in two aspects:
- The brightness of the LED screen: In the case of outdoor LED screens, the brightness must be higher because the LED screen is exposed to direct sunlight. Also, in most cases it covers a greater viewing distance than an indoor LED screen.
- Weather protection: a very important aspect that you should take into account according to your project. Outdoor LED screens contain protection against rainwater, direct sunlight, dust, high temperatures, wind, cold, among others, while indoor LED screens do not require it.
- What is the lifespan of a giant LED display?
- Approximately, an LED display offers between 80,000 and 120,000 hours of operation.
LED Display Components
They are made up of different elements, however the main components of an LED screen are:
- LED boards or LED modules
- Cabinets
- Power supply
- Receiver card
- Internal cables
- What is a video processor for screens?
- The LED video processor converts the image signal from outside into a signal compatible with an LED screen. The image signal can come from a Blu-ray DVD, a computer, an HD playback box, and other signal inputs.
- Is there a limit on what we can create with our LED displays?
- The only limit is your imagination.
